USMID Apac Road Project

Project Overview:

The Apac Road Construction Project, funded by the World Bank, is a landmark infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and promoting economic growth. Our consultancy services and supervision of construction works for the selected infrastructure subprojects in Cluster II, Apac Municipal Council, included the upgrading of two roads (1.6 km) to an asphalt concrete surface, along with associated ancillary works such as the installation of solar street lights in Apac Municipality. This ambitious project highlights our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and the long-term development of the region.

Scope of Work:

We implemented rigorous quality assurance protocols and adhered strictly to all environmental and safety regulations. Key components of the project included the establishment and verification of survey ground control stations, the development and approval of the Contractor’s work programs, and continuous monitoring of construction progress. We were dedicated to maintaining an open line of communication with local municipalities and stakeholders, ensuring all necessary compensations and adjustments are effectively managed.

Sustainable Practices:

Committed to sustainability, we conducted extensive soils and materials investigations to optimize resource use and enhance economic efficiency. Our approach includes routine inspections, joint evaluations with contractors and employers, and the maintenance of detailed records, including daily site diaries and official photographic progress documentation.

Community Impact:

This project integrates on-the-job training for graduate civil engineers, ensuring knowledge transfer and capacity building within the community. We are also deeply invested in adhering to Uganda’s regulatory bodies and policies, reporting monthly on the contractor’s implementation efforts. The Apac Road Construction Project is not just about building a road; it is about creating a lasting impact that will benefit the community and future generations.

Timeline and Progress:

The Apac Road Construction Project was slated for completion in about 6 months. We succesfully completed the construction phase, with significant progress being made in three quarters of the time. Regular updates on the project's milestones and developments were provided to local authorities to keep the community informed and involved.

Our Commitment:

Our approach included the proper dismantling and handover of materials to the client upon project completion. With a focus on high-quality construction practices, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility, we paved the way for a brighter, more connected future for Apac and its surrounding areas.
